HPT Showdown
15 different HPT's side-by-side

This section written November 2005.

Believe it or not, I did not get pregnant just so I could provide these pictures. It's a very convenient fringe benefit, however! ;)

I first tested positive at 11 DPO, in the evening. I saved the cup of pee, ran to 2 different drugstores, and returned home with even more HPT's. All of them were dipped in the same urine. I have grouped them by type of test (pink dye, blue dye, and digital.) Some results were surprising (namely, that First Response Early Result, which is "officially" the most sensitive test on the market, didn't perform nearly as well as some of the other tests!)

Oh, and one test is marked "Mystery Internet Cheapy"-- it was leftover from a friend, and she does not recall where she bought it. It is a dipstrip and says "hCG" in red all over the handle. If this sounds familiar, please let me know. Incidentally, that was the only truly negative test. Some others were pretty darn faint, but had visible pink lines in person (sometimes hard to photograph accurately.) Those are noted as "kinda pos" (as in, "they're probably positive, but if this were the ONLY test I were taking, I'd retest in a day or two just to be sure.")

Note: as always, please remember you cannot read a digital pregnancy test stick the same way you can read a regular stick. There are nearly always 2 lines on the stick. Read The Secret of the Digital for more info. I have pictured my sticks below, but I know they're positive because the displays said "Pregnant," and not because they have 2 lines!

"POASBaby," Charlotte, made her debut August 10, 2006 at a petite 6 lbs. 13 oz. and 19 inches! Thanks for sharing the excitement with us :)
